Get Up, Trinity - Part 1

Joining Bill & The Lady of The Cake in the studio this week was new, Hull-based acoustic trio, Get Up, Trinity, featuring previous studio guest Lindsey Simpson on guitar. The trio also featured Aaron on ukulele and Ed on cajon. They performed a set of originals as well as some covers and also one of Lindsey's songs, too. They also made great inroads into the cake-mountain.

Martin Heaton - Part 1

Joining Bill & Steve in the studio for our 9th Birthday Show was Pickering's Martin Heaton, making his long-awaited return to the show. Unfortunately, there was no birthday cake, as The Lady of The Cake was working, so we dug out the Emergency Biscuits. Martin also brought in a celebratory bottle of whisky, and played a great set of self-penned songs, some from his last-year's album, Pillow Talk, and some from his forthcoming album which is due out in October, when we will see Martin back in the studio to promote that.

Geoff Green, Blossom Green & Martin Wharton - Part 1

Joining Bill & Steve in the studio was Geoff Green, making his return to the studio. Geoff also brought his 14-year-old daughter Blossom, who kicked the show off by singing a couple of songs she'd written, and also Martin Wharton, to "noodle around on the guitar". Geoff performed some of his older material as well as some new tracks, whilst Martin provided additional guitar, and Geoff returned the favour when Martin performed some of his songs.

North Wood Drift - Part 1

Joining Bill & The Lady of The Cake in the studio this week was trio North Wood Drift, making their debut on the show. However, all three have been in the studio previously - Dez & Cathy Allenby with Strawberry Moon (and Dez with a solo and one or two other visits, too), and Phil Friend, who has appeared on his own accord. They played a cracking set of original material but Dez had to wait until the end of the show before tucking into cake, as he didn't want to blow crumbs into his harmonica and tin whistle.

They performed a storming set of self-penned songs, including one that tells the story of when they were asked to perform at a nudist camp.

Gary Newbould Tribute Show

On Sunday 21st January, Bill was joined in the studio by Phil High to pay tribute to former Vixen 87/101 stalwart Gary Newbould, who sadly passed away recently. This is their two hour tribute show to Gary.
