Joining Bill and Andy The Apprentice in the studio this week was Cobalt Tales, making their debut on the show. Comprising of Wigan-born, Ullapool-residing Patricia on guitar and vocals and Sheffield-based Nuala on Bass and vocals, they performed a great set of original music and although initial nerves set in, Andy did a grand job as an apprentice and tea/coffee-maker.

Mal Fry - Part 1

June 17th, 2018

Joining Bill & Steve in the studio this week was Rufforth-based singer-songwriter Mal Fry, making his debut on the show. Mal was recommended to us by Darren, from Hull-band Nocturnal Flowers, and as it was Darren's birthday we played a Nocturnal Flowers track. Mal performed a cracking set of his own material and soon overcame his initial nervousness about appearing on the radio. We'll be having him back on the show before long. We were also joined in the studio by Chris Warcup, who came in to talk about this year's Culture Train & Bus events, including a visit to Market Weighton in July. We also played music from some of the acts who will be appearing at these events.

Zenith Nadir - Part 1

June 3rd, 2018

Joining Bill & Steve in the studio this week was 2/3rds of Zenith Nadir. Formerly based in Mexico, Alex and Selina have relocated to the UK, leaving Manny back in Mexico, so they now collaborate writing new music via the internet. They performed a great set of their original electropop fusion dance music using vocals and violin with the rest of the instrumentation sampled via their laptop.
